Elephant Safari

Kaudulla National Park – The Kaudulla National Park is a major national park located in Sri Lanka which is famous as a safari destination to see wild elephants. The best time to visit the park is during the dry period which persists from April to October. However, the park is a year-round destination to see Elephants. The park, spanning 6,900 ha, has varying topography consisting of hills, lowlands, forest and scrubland. Inside the park is the Kaudulla tank, an ancient irrigation tank with a capacity of 104,000 feet acres. The park is in the dry zone of Sri Lanka. The park is home to 24 species of mammals, 25 species of reptiles, 26 species of fish and 160 species of birds.

Minneriya National Park – located in the North Central province of Sri Lanka. Sigiriya Rock Fortress is popular for its amazing architecture and the skill and genius that went into building it. As it was the residence of the king, there are many entertainment units as well. The Sigiriya Maidens paintings are widely talked about and praised. It is believed that the massive mural once must have held paintings of around 500 maidens, although only twenty-one paintings have survived to this day. The maidens are painted from the waist up with naked torsos. The torsos meet paintings of clouds, giving way to speculation that these paintings are of goddesses. However, some believe that these maidens were King Kasyapa’s ladies.
